Greenbrier County Auto Repair Business Strives to Provide Elite Service

On Saturday June 29th check out K2 Motorsports’ Grand Opening in Caldwell! There will be hot dogs, burgers, pizza, and refreshments, 9a-3pm. Owned and operated by father and son team, Keith and Kelvin Filzen, this shop is a full-service facility that provides top-level diagnostic and repair services, complemented by in-house fabrication, 2WD, 4WD, AWD dyno tuning services. They cater to specialty vehicles, high-end cars, 4X4’s, and diesel trucks. Keith tells us they are a Greenbrier preferred vendor allowing them to work with various support organizations to service vehicles.  They have also supported the Greenbrier’s Concours since its inception, providing mechanical, navigation, and emergency assistance to the sponsored drives.

“We currently have at least 5 builds from mild to wild happening at once. We are building one vehicle to take to the 2020 Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA).  We make ailing classic and muscle cars beautiful again all the way up to Concours restorations.” – Keith Filzen

Keith and Kelvin closed their racing business in Northern Virginia, to move to Greenbrier County and open K2 Motorsports. In VA, they raced and supported SCCA, NASA and Legend cars, and fabricated and serviced vehicles in those classes as well as racing in the World Karting league. Keith tells us, “We originally moved to the area because we wanted large acreage to satisfy our passion for everything in off-road motorsports. After satisfying that itch, we realized that there was a tremendous opportunity to provide services to customers wanting specialized services. Many clients travel 50 plus miles to get services done.”  Keith goes onto say that one thing they plan to do in the very near future is re-ignite their racing passion by stabling a new team.

They have over 50 vendor/distributor relationships to support servicing customers and selling them products. They are a dealer for Eckler’s Automotive Group providing restoration parts for Chevrolet, Ford, and GM Vehicles. They have wholesale accounts with Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lexus, Maserati, Mercedes as well as Import and Domestic brands to name a few. Other vendors include Motul, Schaeffer’s, VP Racing, and Tire Rack. They also offer general to Concours quality Auto Detailing.

We are a New and Used Vehicle and Motorcycle dealer selling and sourcing vehicles for the customer.  We also carry a full line of Dirt Bikes, Motorcycles and specialty vehicles like Mini Jeeps.

The main things that K2 do not currently offer are bodywork/painting and custom upholstery. They are a Katzkin dealer so they are able to work on vehicles dating back to 1990 with factory replacement seat covers, in any of an array of colors and materials. Other services are Diesel Repair and Performance – Ford’s, which are their specialty, as well as Offroad performance, and customization, Hot Rods and Muscle, and Cars including Domestic, European, and British. They also offer Powersports Performance and Repair for all brands of Motorcycles, ATV’s, UTV’s, Dirt Bikes, and watercraft.

The father-son team are currently working on a restoration project that will receive a full bed liner involving a desert tan tinted coating instead of paint. Keith tells us, “We have recently invested in an alternative to re-chroming metal called Future Chrome. This is a process by which we apply a chrome base and a special automotive clear coat that can be tinted any color.  We can apply this to just about any surface and is typically a fifth of the cost to have an item chromed.”

The Filzen family are very much focused on supporting the community through local events and sales of clothing and sodas to which all the proceeds benefit charity.  On the subject of drinks, they private label their own cane sugar-based sodas. Originally starting with their signature Root Beer, they have added Birch Beer, Blueberry Birch Beer, Black Cherry, Grape, Sarsaparilla, Orange and Vanilla Cream Soda. As for events, they host Cruise In’s, Cars and Coffee, Dyno Days, and new for this year, Spring and Fall Swap meets.  They also host custom events for car clubs and charities throughout the year.

Don’t miss K2 Motorsports’ Grand Opening on June 29th! The shop is located off the beaten path on Stonehouse Rd along the Greenbrier River and adjoining the Interstate 64 overpass. They are just around the corner from the Greenbrier River Trail. Other upcoming events this summer and fall include a Cruise-In on August 16 and September 13, 5-9pm. Keith will host a 1st Annual Fall Swap Meet on October 19th, 8a-4pm. On October 25th, don’t miss K2 Motorsports’ Jeep Jamboree Cruise-In, 5-9pm.
