Sat. May 4: Run for the Roses at Derby Day!

On Saturday, May 4, 3-8pm, join hundreds of horse race enthusiasts for Gateway Industries’ 25th Annual Run for the Roses Derby Day at WV State Fairgrounds in Lewisburg. Watch the Kentucky Derby on big screen tvs with pre-race festivities, a cocktail party, hors D’oeuvres, a buffet dinner, live music, a hat contest, raffles, door prizes, and a huge silent auction with fabulous items. Held in the Cecil H Underwood Youth Center, Gateway’s Derby Day continues to grow in popularity and support as it is filled with excitement, great food and this year’s musical guest is Richard Hefner and the Black Mountain Bluegrass Boys (pictured above). In true tradition of the Kentucky Derby, there is a Most Spectacular Hat Contest with prizes for the winners.

There will also be door prizes galore and other activities to round out the day while knowing that you are helping support a very worthwhile cause, Gateway Industries. This fundraiser has been held over 20 years to help support efforts and expand their facility and services.

Gateway Industries Inc. is a private non-profit Community Rehabilitation Program (CRP) providing employment and vocational services to individuals presented with a variety of physical, cognitive, and/or psychiatric disabilities. Their mission is to assist individuals with disabilities to enter the competitive world of work. “All of our citizens should have the opportunity to live and work with dignity and freedom,” – Gateway Industries. Their vocational services are offered to disabled individuals from the tri-county area (Greenbrier, Monroe, and Pocahontas).

Tickets are just $40 and may be purchased in advance or at the door. They include all the delicious food and beverages you can eat and drink!
