July 12-16: Celebrate 30 Years of Durbin Days!

From Wednesday, July 12 to Sunday, July 16th, you are invited to celebrate 30 years of Durbin Days! This special fair is filled with fun activities throughout the days including music, a carnival, children’s activities, a greased pig event, karaoke, a car show, parades, a 5k run/walk, pet show, tug-o-war, bingo, fireworks, and more! There will also be a wide array of food from burgers and pizza to BBQ’s and baked potatoes. Funnel cakes are a must at the fair and the homemade pork rinds always sell out. Durbin is located just north of Green Bank, about a 2-hour drive from Lewisburg.

Since its inception in 1987, Durbin Days has grown from a one-day event to 5 days of fun and entertainment.

Carlos Jones, who wanted an event for the upper end of Pocahontas County since Pioneer Days happened in the lower end, started Durbin Days. He and his wife, Myrtle, and Kevin and Sharon Greathouse got together and planned a one-day celebration. Since its inception in 1987, Durbin Days has grown from a one-day event to 5 days of fun and entertainment. It has also moved to a larger venue for the carnival grounds and includes events all over town. Durbin Days is a constantly evolving occasion and new this year is a Country Fair, petting zoo, and forestry events! Event organizers estimate that around 4,000 people will attend this July, traveling from all over, including the Ohio Valley.

The biggest draws for Durbin Days is the carnival, free music concerts, greased pig event, and two fantastic parades! Festivities officially start on Saturday, July 1st with a Pageant called “A Time to Remember” featuring DDHF Baby, Little Miss, Jr. Miss, Teen Miss, and Miss Pageant.
