ON THE COVER: ENJOY A BRIGHTER CHRISTMAS W/ LEWISBURG LIONS CLUB!

Lewisburg WV Lions Club

The world’s largest service organization, The Lions Club is working with LBSPY this holiday season to spread hope and joy to one lucky family. Together, we are giving away a 6-foot Christmas tree, the centerpiece of the Christmas holiday. Selling trees as a fundraiser since 1979, the Lewisburg Lions Club now sells over 200 trees each year and raising about $4,500. The trees come from a farm less than an hour from Lewisburg, WV at a farm called Joe’s Trees outside Newport, Virginia. They are sold in Lewisburg at the Greenbrier Chevrolet-Buick car lot in front of the old State Police office on Rt 219. The Lions happily load and secure the tree onto your vehicle. By request, they will cut off tree trunks and remove limbs. The tree types are Frasier Firs and White Pines and they range in size from 5’ to 14’.

Each year, 100% of the net profit from tree sales is used to provide funds for eye exams and recycling eyeglasses by providing treatment for Greenbrier county residents who cannot otherwise afford it. If you have a used pair of eyeglasses that you no longer need, you can donate them now. Children’s glasses are especially needed. They accept prescription and reading glasses, sunglasses, and plastic or metal frames. Since 1940, the Lewisburg Lions Club has directly helped thousands of county residents. Worldwide, the club has helped hundreds of millions of people, including children.

“Our fundraising efforts have been going on for many years and are well organized, so the shared time commitment of a member is very reasonable when compared to eyesight for a neighbor in need.” – Bob Powell.
