SARCASTICALLY SINCERE: COUNTRY LESSONS. BY MATTHAN JACKSON.

Growing up on a farm in central West Virginia is truly a… unique experience. Upon visiting for the first time, people often remark on the vistas and calmness of my parent’s house. However, the antics of me and my siblings were usually anything but peaceful. Here are a few tidbits of wisdom I’ve acquired over the years:

-Beer, semiautomatic rifles, and yellow jacket nests don’t mix. Ever

-Even nonpoisonous snakes bite

-There are far better games to play with your cousins than “rock-fight”

-Nothing ruins a sled run down a pipeline like a gas meter between the legs

-When it comes to gasoline and barely-legal fireworks, sometimes less is more.

-Only swing as high on a grapevine as you’re willing to fall

-It’s all fun and games until your potato cannon blows up

-No matter how much you hate emergency rooms, sewing your gashed leg with dental floss is probably not the best course of action

-When in a kicking match with a cow… the cow always wins

-There’s an excellent chance that anything that involves saying “Hey, watch this!” is going to end poorly
