Floyd Murray & Dave Buhrman at Irish Pub, August 4th. By Michelle Evans

West Virginia resident Dave Buhrman and New Jersey native Floyd Murray, both classic folk/rock musicians, team up this Sunday, August 4th at 6 p.m. at the Irish Pub right here in Lewisburg, WV. The Irish Pub, now open seven days a week, has a long history of providing a variety of awesome events, from live music to pub quiz, and the upcoming few weeks are no exception. The Pub will be featuring musical acts like Possum Holler Glee Club (“genre-jumping, feel good party music with foundations in the old time blues and folk of yesteryear”), husband and wife duo Rivertown Gypsies (“a soulful infusion of acoustic rock, blues, and Americana”), notable Pocahontas County residents Richard Hefner and the Black Mountain Bluegrass Boys, and traditional Scottish music with former members of Battlefield Band (a Scottish traditional music group founded in Glasgow in 1969), just to name a few.

Floyd Murray’s song selection is eclectically alluring and fun with both contemporary and classic selections. He doesn’t consider himself part of the herd as he sometimes goes well off the beaten path. “Floyd has a real natural and comfortable way about connecting with an audience on an interpersonal level. You don’t just want to watch and hear him play, you want to hang out with him. During a performance Floyd will often tell stories, or share an experience, or tell a bad joke, or even ask questions to the listeners. While he can be just “background music” if that is what is required, Floyd truly thrives on audience interaction and participation and wants you to have an enjoyable personal experience when you see him play. You can even go up and sing with him or play a song if you are so inclined. It’s all about fun. Having fun and sharing fun. In Floyd’s world, entertainment is not a one way path, it is an exchange. It is people sharing good times, good music, and enjoying life and each other in a fun and entertaining environment,” –floydweb.com

dave buhrman

Dave Buhrman, pictured above, is a local favorite in Greenbrier & Pocahontas County. He stands out from the crowd with his bariton-ish voice and penchant for old, familiar songs. You’ll hear Buhrman perform a wide variety of songs from James Taylor to Neil Young, among others. His presence is very friendly and pairs nicely with Floyd Murray’s easy-going style.

On top of this event, Pub Quiz is every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m., and Resident Musician and Owner, Patrick O’Flaherty, performs every Wednesday through Saturday from 6 – 11 p.m. and every Sunday from 4 – 9 p.m., unless otherwise noted on their Events Calendar.

If you’re not up for music or trivia (er…?), they also have good, old-fashioned Weekly Drink Specials. There are $4.00 Bloody Mary’s till 6 p.m. on Sundays, $3.00 Drafts from 4 – 7 p.m. on Mondays, $3.00 Mystery Beers all night long on Tuesdays, “Whiskey Wednesday: Bartender’s Choice” on Wednesdays, and Beer Buckets (six beers for the price of five) on Fridays and Saturdays.

With all of that going on, my only question is, “Why aren’t you there right now?”
