Celebrate 1st Friday in Downtown Lewisburg, June 7th

Lewisburg’s next First Friday Celebration takes place in Historic Downtown Lewisburg on June 7th. Always free to the public, the event kicks off at 5pm, with things wrapping up in the evening. Plenty of special appearances scheduled throughout the night, including live entertainment, and much more.
The geographic center of June’s First Friday will occur at the Downtown Greenspace. Located at the corner of US60 and US219, the Greenspace will host DJ “G.Biv”. Featuring global beats and rhythms for the masses, the music spinning from the turntables will lift you from your seat and make you want to dance.

Hill and Holler Bicycle Works
will be hosting their third Bicycle Repair Clinic: “The most common repairs during a ride.” There will be two sessions for the seminar, with the first one scheduled at 6pm, followed by another clinic at 6:30pm. Space is limited, so reservations are needed to assure your place in the class. DOWNTOWN LEWISBURG

Greenbrier Valley Quarterly (GVQ) magazine celebrates 2013’s Art Class at Harmony Ridge Gallery. Sponsored by GVC, Dinsmore and Shohl, and Harmony Ridge Gallery, the featured artists will be in attendance to allow a friendly meet and great, in addition to light refreshments. Cooper Gallery will feature new pottery by Robert Hasselle from 5pm-8pm. Stop in to see his newest pieces and the many other talented artists showcased in this well-known and popular art gallery. 304-645-6439.

Fish Hawk Acres will be displaying a new line of locally produced WV foods at Bella the Corner Gourmet. Complimentary samples will be available from this West Virginia family of farmers producing high quality foods for your eating pleasure. Call 304-520-4921 for details.

Additional live entertainment can be found at The Greenbrier Valley Visitor’s Center. Starting at 5:30pm, the Greenbrier Episcopal School Band will perform a free concert, while the 3rd Annual Plein Air Artists gathering gets underway. Artists are encouraged to bring their easels and painting supplies to the visitor’s center sidewalk to sketch and paint. Completed pieces will be on display throughout the weekend, allowing visitors to vote for their favorite piece on Saturday, June 8th from 3:30 pm- 5:45pm, with the final judging and people’s choice award taking place at 5:45pm. General Lewis Inn

Even more live entertainment can be enjoyed at Plants Etc. with the Herding Cats ; the General Lewis Inn & Restaurant featuring Ron Kirk and Jay Frye and their “Pushin’ String” ensemble ; and the Irish Pub with the traditional Irish sounds of Patrick O’Flaherty.

The Historic Lewis Theatre will offer complimentary popcorn for all of those who stop by to view the latest movie featured on their recently renovated theatre.

Rounding out the evening festivities will be live music in our favorite bars and restaurants. Black Mountain Bluegrass Boys at The Sweet Shoppe, 9pm and Brown Chicken Brown Cow String Band at The Wild Bean.
