An Evening of Worldly Wines at 50 East, Feb 22

Vines & Grinds unites with 50 East to host “An evening of Worldly Wines” on Friday, February 22, at 7pm. Wines will be featured from The Country Vintner. Banks Jesser will be present to introduce each wine alongside every course. Featured wines will be available at a special discount price at Vines and Grinds, located next to 50 East.

“We are privileged to be teaming up with the Country Vintner to bring you ‘An Evening of Worldly Wines.’ For those who haven’t had the pleasure to dine at 50 East, please join us for the memorable event where we’ll enjoy great food that is paired with fantastic wines,” – Sadie Fraley, 50 East manager.

You will be served a five-course meal with five complimentary wines from Italy, South Africa, Chile California, and France. Banks is a wonderful and knowledgabe presenter. He will add comments and answer questions about the wine pairing between each course. Now onto the menu!

First Course: Creamy Polenta w/ Butternut Squash Peas & Crispy Proscutto
Wine: Tiamo Prosecco, Italy – 100 % Organic sparkling white wine..fresh and crisp with a hint of citrus fruit. Aromas of apple and pear

Second Course: Seared Duck Breast w/ a Citrus Salad
Wine: Ken Forrester Petit Chenin Blanc, South Africa – Fresh, crisp wine with hints of pear and green apple notes

My friends and I had a blast at Banks’ wine dinner at Elk River Inn. He was very knowledgeable and descriptive with the wines and their pairings. We loved all the wines throughout the dinner, especially the sparkling malbec. – Sylvia Mattingly, Cheat Mountain Stables (Snowshoe).

Third Course: Creamy Mild Mushroom Bisque
Wine: Frederic Magnien Bourgogne Pinot Noir, Burgundy France – Notes of strawberry and red cherry with a touch of earthiness

Fourth Course: Seared Venison Chop w/ Potato, Sauteeed Baby Spinach and a Pepper Chili Drizzle
Wine: Yali Cabernet/Carmenere, Chile – Plum and cherry flavors from Cabernet grape, Spiciness of black pepper from Carmenere grape. Hint of vanilla and chocolate from oak barrel fermentation.

Fifth Course: Berry Parfait
Wine: Quady Electra Orange Muscat, California – This is electricity in the mouth! Refreshingly crisp with notes of peach and melon

Tickets must be purchased in advance via phone by calling 50 East: 304-536-2274 or at 50 East located at 50 East Main St. White Sulphur Springs by Wednesday, February 20th. Price of tickets are $60 plus tax and automatic 18% gratuity. Reservations must be secured by a credit card. This is a co-operative wine tasting with sister companies, 50 East Restaurant and Vines & Grinds.
