Now that we’ve survived the Mayan Apocalypse and braved the holiday crowds, it’s time to set our sights on the New Year. A lot of folks partake in the tradition of declaring a New Year’s Resolution, and I’m usually one of them. In 2013, I won’t resolve to lose weight, drink less beer, or eat more vegetables. I’m going to resolve to do something that will really make my life better. Maybe I’ll resolve to always put the trash out the night before “trash day,” no matter how lazy I feel. That way, I won’t have to run around like a crazy person when I hear the garbage truck trundling up the street the next morning. Or, I could resolve to always put my debit card back in my wallet after I use it, so I won’t get stuck rummaging for it at the register the next time I go shopping. Resolving to put my laundry away immediately after taking it out of the dryer might be the best use of my resolution this year. But wait…can you have more than one? If not, I’ll have to find a way to blend all of those into one big “Best Of” resolution. That way, if I drop the ball on one, I still have two more I can work on – and two out of three ain’t bad!
