Snow Day

Today is the first snow day of the year!

I’m pretty excited to bundle up and run outside to play with the dog. I’ll shovel the driveway, make a snowman in the yard, and have a snowball fight with the neighborhood kids, just like in the movies. But, now that I think about it, there’s no way any of that is going to happen. I know myself, and my sole reason for being happy about a snow day boils down to one word: sleep.

In fact, Nintendo doesn’t sound half bad right now.

Given the fact that I have no children and my pets are minimally demanding most of the time, today will be a bona fide “lazy day” for me.

Oh, I might feel guilty around 5pm and go shovel enough snow to get the car out in the morning, but that is probably as much as this world is going to get out of me today. Even as a kid I might have spent an hour playing outside, but then it was back to watching Sailor Moon or playing Nintendo. In fact, Nintendo doesn’t sound half bad right now. Who’s up for a Super Mario Bros. 3 marathon?
