The Greenbrier Valley's #1 Source for Food, Music, Shopping, Theatre, and Events!

Interview with Sassy owner, Mariann Hefner

Sassy is a bold and full of spirit boutique in Lewisburg, WV. Its owner, Mariann Hefner, is a young entrepreneur who, in 2009, had a vision of creating a business based on her model of “conscious styling”. Through styling techniques and fashion tips, she could provide opportunity for other women. According to Mariann, Sassy is dedicated to serving the women of Greenbrier County and of the world one shopping experience at a time.

Raised in the Greenbrier Valley, Mariann moved away for undergrad. She double majored at Glenville State, leaving there with two BA’s: business management and business marketing. She then moved to Atlanta for a few years and came back to open Sassy in 2009.

Why did you move back to the area?
I grew up in White Sulphur Springs and I graduated from Greenbrier East. I felt it was sad that so many people had to move away to start a career. So what I wanted to do was just start my own business here and show other people and future generations that they can start there own business. I also like to provide employment and help with local economy.

“At Sassy, we believe that all women are created equal regardless of socio-economic background. We believe that women are never too old to look cute and feel confident,” – Mariann Hefner.

What is your shop most known for?
We are known for our handbags. We also carry a select line of jeans, tops, dresses, jewelry, and other accessories.

What is conscious styling?
If women are looking for make-overs or to get a new style we have what we call conscious styling. The idea is to take your inner beauty and pull it out of you. We also find practical ways of organizing your wardrobe.

What’s your price range?
Our price points are anywhere between $1 – $80 per piece. We have a year-round clearance rack.

Who’s your most regular shopper?
I get a lot of girls who are planning to go out to dinner or to an event. They need a cool or cute outfit to wear.
Oh, somewhere like Del Sol?…
Yeah, totally. A lot of girls that shop here go to Del Sol. A lot of the girls that work there also come here.

Can your shoppers find you online?
Yes. We are on facebook and currently working on our online store. We’ll be providing free shipping on orders $69.95 or more. Sassyoutfit.com
