I’d like to share with you the story of one of 6 test drives I undertook recently. At first it was all very predictable. Before I picked a vehicle to take out, he showed me the different trim packages and explained why theirs are better than all the other cars on the road. Sure, sure. It wasn’t until we’d been on the road for a few minutes that he started to seem…unsettled. We were on the road with me as a passenger, and he complained he was hearing a rattle that I couldn’t hear. We stopped, switched places, and I started driving us back toward the dealership.
He yells, “That’s it – I’m going in!”
The next thing I know, he yells “That’s it – I’m going in!” and throws off his seatbelt, plunging headfirst into the backseat. Here was a man who was not only showing me every square inch of the vehicle, but of his be-khaki’d buttocks as well. While I didn’t purchase a vehicle from him in the end, I will be forever grateful for the most memorable test drive of my life and I am sure that with time and therapy I will be able to drive with actual passengers once again.
