To celebrate West Virginia Day, there will be a free bluegrass concert and pepperoni roll judging event in downtown Lewisburg at the City National Bank Parking Lot on Saturday, June 20, from 12 to 3 p.m. Bring your friends and your camp chairs to set up and enjoy an afternoon of great music by Harmony Creek Junction & Friends.

Also, enter your best pepperoni roll recipe for a chance at the $250 grand prize (along with the bragging rights) and maybe even taste some samples after the judging is completed.

Volunteers will be on hand to watch your chairs if you want to slip away for a bit to grab a bite, a drink, or do some shopping and site-seeing downtown.

Contest entry information:

Contest open to individuals, businesses, and non-profit entities. Applicants can be from anywhere in the universe.

Application deadline June 15. Application form posted on LDBA website.

Entry fee of $25. Limit 20 contestants.

Contestants must deliver to City National Bank parking lot on June 20 by 10am fifteen identical pepperoni rolls between 3.5 and 7 inches long.

Recipe may include any legal ingredient, but primary ingredients must be bread and pepperoni.

Whether baked in a commercial kitchen or home kitchen, contestant must provide ingredients list on two legible 4×6 cards.

Two rolls will be chosen randomly from each contestant’s batch by the judges. LDBA will slice the remaining thirteen rolls into ~2oz. servings and make available to the public for $1 each.

A bucket will be made available for the “People’s Choice” vote.

The adjudged winner will receive $250 and a displayable award.
