Appalachian Arts & Crafts Fair Returns to Beckley August 7 & 8

One of southern West Virginia’s most anticipated celebrations of Appalachian heritage returns Friday, August 7 and Saturday, August 8, as the 61st Annual Appalachian Arts & Crafts Fair welcomes visitors to the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center for two days of handcrafted art, live entertainment, and mountain traditions.

Organized by the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, the fair has become a cherished summer tradition, bringing together talented artisans, craftspeople, quilters, and makers from throughout the Appalachian region. Visitors will have the opportunity to browse a wide variety of handcrafted items, including pottery, woodworking, jewelry, textiles, paintings, photography, metalwork, home décor, specialty foods, and much more. The event remains a juried show, ensuring the high quality and authenticity of the work on display.

A longtime highlight of the fair is the Appalachian Treasures Quilt Show, where beautifully handcrafted quilts showcase the artistry, history, and storytelling traditions that have been passed down through generations. The quilt exhibition continues to be one of the event’s most popular attractions, drawing both quilting enthusiasts and first-time visitors alike.

In addition to shopping for one-of-a-kind handmade creations, guests can enjoy live Appalachian music throughout both days. Daniel Lilly and The Lilly Mountaineers are scheduled to perform from noon to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, adding traditional mountain music to the festive atmosphere.

The fair will be open Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center, located at 200 Armory Drive in Beckley. Admission is $5 for adults, with a two-day pass also available for $5. Seniors (65+) receive discounted admission, while children and students 18 and under are admitted free.

Whether searching for a unique handcrafted gift, meeting talented Appalachian artists, or simply spending a day enjoying the region’s rich cultural heritage, the Appalachian Arts & Crafts Fair offers something for every member of the family. The event continues its six-decade tradition of celebrating the creativity, craftsmanship, and enduring spirit of Appalachia while supporting local artists and preserving the regions rich artistic legacy.
