Lewisburg Literary Festival – August 1 & 2

Calling all literary enthusiasts! The Lewisburg Literary Festival returns in 2025, bringing celebrated authors, lively discussions, and a deep love of literature to downtown Lewisburg. This beloved summer event features engaging writer workshops, presentations by Appalachian authors, a Story Walk for kids, a Literary Fashion Contest, and plenty of book sales (fair warning for fellow book lovers!). Writers Station and Open Mic at the Train Depot – August 16

Join the Writers Station on Saturday, August 16, at the Train Depot, 1 Railroad Street, Alderson, WV. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with open mic from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Share original works or favorites by other authors — poetry, prose, memoirs, fiction, essays, and storytelling are all welcome. This free event is open to readers and listeners alike and happens every third Saturday except December. Vendor Registration Now Open for Carnegie Hall’s 39th Annual Taste of Our Towns Festival – October 11, 2024

On Saturday, October 11, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., downtown Lewisburg will host the 39th annual Taste of Our Towns (TOOT) festival, a fundraiser for Carnegie Hall. This event showcases southeastern West Virginia’s culinary delights, arts, and entertainment across Washington, Court, and Church Streets.

Restaurants, businesses, and nonprofits can register as vendors to participate in this popular food tasting event. Registration is $350 ($250 for nonprofits), with a $50 early bird discount for sign-ups before September 1. Vendors keep 100% of their profits and set their own prices. The registration deadline is September 22, with proposed menus due September 14.
