The Greenbrier Valley's #1 Source for Food, Music, Shopping, Theatre, and Events!

Strawberry Festival returns to Alderson

Alderson Main Street, the Town of Alderson, Sheena Pendley, and Sunset Berry Farm are collaborating once again this spring to celebrate all things strawberry at the 6th annual Strawberry Festival. The BIG day is always the Saturday before Memorial Day, falling this year on May 27. There will be food, vendors, music, and fun both in town on the historic memorial bridge and at Sunset Berry Farm.

If you can’t make it on the big day, you can still get in on the fun by visiting the farm on Saturday, May 20, to enjoy Sixpence Pizza, shop West Virginian craft vendors, pick your own strawberries, and let the kids enjoy play time on the state’s largest bounce pad, ride the tractor pulled bucking cow train, and do a scavenger hunt in the enchanted forest.

Mother Nature makes all the final decisions at Sunset Berry Farm, so we recommend checking on availability prior to making the trip. The fastest way to reach the farm is by texting Farmer Jen at 304-646-3784, or Farmer Kent at 304-646-3287. You can also check the Sunset Berry Farm Facebook page for information!

Saturday, May 20 (at Sunset Berry Farm Only)

Hours: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There will also be a flea market and local craft vendors to shop from at the farm. Bring the kids to pick their own strawberries, play on the state’s largest bounce pad, enjoy a tractor pulled ride, and visit the fairy garden for a family scavenger hunt.

The sweetest bakers in the Greenbrier Valley will be offering strawberry dessert tastings. Prices are $2 for 1 tasting, $10 for 7 tastings, and $20 for 20 tastings. Rate the tastings on a 1-10 scale to help us identify the sweetest bakery in the valley!

How to get to Sunset Berry Farm:

Coming from East on 64: Take left off exit 161 to Alderson.

Coming from West on 64: Take right off exit 161. Go 12 miles to Alderson, go through the stop sign and take next left onto Route 3 to cross bridge. Left at end of bridge. Go through town and follow route 3 (must turn right at end of town). Take next left onto Flat Mountain Road. Go 2 miles and take first left (Laurel Creek Road). Go 1 mile and take first right (Sunset School Road-gravel). Farm is 9/10 mile on left. You can also follow signs once you arrive in Alderson.

Saturday, May 27 (at Sunset Berry Farm & On the Bridge, Alderson)

Hours: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Eat, play, and shop! Visit downtown Alderson on the bridge for a variety of vendors, activities, an artisan market, and more! Live music will be provided by the Goodson Boys, and Lee Dean playing Sinatra and Elvis.

Catch Lee Dean as Elvis from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., as Frank Sinatra at 11:30 a.m., and the Goodson Boys at 1:30 p.m. See them at the pavilion at the Memorial Bridge!

At Sunset Berry Farm the fun continues with food, vendors, and more music, as well as bucking cow barrel train rides, the state’s largest bounce pad, scavenger hunts, and U-Pick strawberries (Pint container: $4/ea., Quart container: $8/ea., Gallon bucket: $25/ea.).
