Where can you find locally made products and get your ski photography in print? The WV Living Store at Snowshoe. This little treasure of a store overlooks the mountains of WV in Snowshoe’s Village. Opened since 2010, the store offers a variety of products made here in West Virginia. If you’re wondering where the connection is with WV LIVING magazine… the store is co-owned by both Nikki Bowman, owner and editor of WV LIVING and WV WEDDINGS, and Parween Mascari, an attorney with Jackson Kelly, PLLC. Nikki and Parween refer to their shop in the Village as the WV LIVING Marketplace. They ladies offer a unique opportunity for ski photographers with material from Snowshoe, Canaan Valley and Winterplace. In fact, it’s an annual event.
Every year, WV LIVING Magazine sponsors an event called the Ski WV Poster Contest. Artists are encouraged to submit a creative representation of Snowshoe, Canaan, or Winterplace. The winning entry is transformed into a poster and sold at the WV LIVING Marketplace in Snowshoe and Morgantown for $25. A copy is also framed and displayed in their stores. There is still time to submit your work for the 2012 Ski WV Poster Contest. The winter issue of WV LIVING will feature the 2012 winner and two runners up. Deadline to submit is: September 25, 2012 Please call 304.413.0104 for more information or visit wvliving.com.

For WV art enthusiasts, this store is a true find. The marketplace features recognized West Virginia artisans such as Jeff Fetty, Ron Hinkle Glass, Appalachian Glass, Jillery, and Anna Brown. WV favorites such as Blenko and Fiestaware are also available here. The store also sells Helvetia Shepherd’s 100% wool blankets, which makes for the perfect covering on a chilly Snowshoe night.
As a West Virginia marketplace, the shop features products made by West Virginians or items about West Virginia.
Not only does the WV LIVING Marketplace offer unique products, they also cater to children and carry a limited line of children’s toys and hats. You can find Betsy and Millies knitted products and felt child hats; Mountain Craft Shop’s toys and stuffed animals; Popular Poplar takes us back to classic playtime with their line of wooden toys; and Evan’s Knob Farm’s child hats.
Our goal is to support local artists and craftsmen.
Food items are also available at the WV LIVING Marketplace including WV LIVING’s very own line of Sauces, Glazes, Jellies, Jams, and Sparkling Water! You can also find pasta products by Biselli, the Crazy Baker, and Blueberry Vodka Cordials and Chocolate Caramel Bourbon Balls by Smooth Ambler Spirits.
On your next trip to Snowshoe, be sure to stop in and say hello to Joyce Lanter, Betty Wilson, and/or Brenda Maupin and tell them LBSPY sent you.
