Vacation by Tiffany Blair

I need a vacation. More specifically, I need a beach vacation. The last time I went to the beach was in 2009 during a cruise and it was fantastic, start to finish. Given some recent events in the cruise industry, however, I’m going to back-burner a repeat on that particular type of excursion. Call me crazy, but I just wasn’t built for vacations involving poopy walls. Last year I decided to take a week-long staycation, which would have been lovely had the 2012 Derecho not hit the day it began. This year, I want to travel a little but still take it easy overall. Sand, sun, and a drink with an umbrella in it are what I am setting my sights on. I’d like to think I can’t go wrong with that combination but, knowing my luck, I’ll come down with shingles or there will be a mysterious mass shark migration (oh wait…I think that happened recently) and the beaches will be closed. Don’t judge me if I end up sipping cocktails by a kiddie pool in my back yard instead- at least I won’t have to worry about being taken by an undertow!
