Introducing a monthly column that will discuss how incorporating metaphysical practices and techniques into your life can be beneficial to your well¬being. So, what does metaphysical mean, anyway? The first entry a Google search brings up is “adjective. 1. of or relating to metaphysics”. Well, that’s a start, let’s go a little deeper… (pun intended). According to the Oxford Dictionary, metaphysics “1. The branch of philosophy that deals with the first principles of things, including abstract concepts as being, knowing, substance, cause, identity, time, and space. 1.1 Abstract theory or talk with no basis in reality”.

Ooh, heady stuff. What does all of this mean in your regular ol’ daily life? Metaphysics basically encompasses the ways we human interpret and explore our own Realities, and how we live our lives, both individually and collectively. Professional Metaphysical practitioners regard metaphysics as a spiritual philosophy of life. Metaphysical practices and techniques include many areas of interest, some of which you may already practicing regularly. These include spirituality, religion, philosophy, yoga, mysticism, dream interpretation, Extra-Sensory Perception, parapsychology, astrology, meditation, self-help studies, positive thinking, holistic healing, life after death, reincarnation, aromatherapy, Feng Shui, candle-gazing, and crystal healing.

Why practice metaphysical techniques? They are tools that are here to help us make sense of this crazy little thing called life, and live it the best we can. Practice can bring about physical and emotional healing, a sense of well-being, reduced stress levels, clarity of intent and purpose, and energy, to name a few benefits. There are also the benefits of satisfying curiosity and make the most of the gifts each of us are given. Each month, this column will explore a metaphysical practice, and provide tips on how to make use of the practice in your own life.
