Sat. Sept 8: Gyasi’s Infectious Groove @Wild Bean

On Saturday, September 8th, 8pm, the Wild Bean in downtown Lewisburg welcomes Gyasi Heus, a WV native and Nashville transplant. This talented musician combines early blues, 70s psychedelia, and glam rock to deliver Rock N Roll that sounds both classic and new with influences like Bowie and Zeppelin. There will be an opening set from Amy McIntire and a closing set from Vedra. Tickets are $10/adv and $12 at the door. The doors open at 7pm.

Jenell Kesler with Psychedelic Baby Mag (an independent music magazine) recently reviewed Gyasi’s music and wrote that he has “managed to move glam into an entirely different realm with solid lyrics and vocals… He creates an infectious groove that rides easy, bestowing a sense of intelligence along with forward-looking attitudes and visions that dance like translucent images from my speakers, filling my room with a sound that comes across half recognized, yet in the same breath is entirely new…”

Growing up in West Virginia, Gyasi felt isolated in his rural surroundings. He was close with his parents who taught him about blues, jazz, world music, and silent movies. He also looked up to his Russian immigrant neighbors who ultimately became his mentors. They introduced Gyasi to British Invasion, glam rock, and psychedelia.

Make plans for live music at the bean later this month with The Kind Thieves (Appalachian rock band) & Bennett Wales & The Relief (Bennett Wales, pictured above), slated for Friday, September 21, 9pm. The Kind Thieves have risen to become one of the state’s premier acts over the past few years and are known to “bring the heat everytime they take the stage!”

The Wild Bean is located at 1056 E. Washington St in downtown Lewisburg. For more information, visit thewildbrew.com.
