EVENT: Grand Opening of B Sweet Confectionery
WHERE: Downtown White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, across from City Hall
WHEN: Saturday, October 26, 2013

For the past 3 years, the pink bakery on wheels known as B. Sweet Confectionery has been serving the local community at the Greenbrier Valley Farmer’s Market set on the corner of Arbuckle Lane and RT 219. Many of us have become accustomed to the Friday night facebook posts where the owner of the bakery, Erin Bowes, regularly promotes the mouthwatering menu items for Saturday. After three successful seasons at the Farmer’s Market and building a strong clientele for events and catering, Bowes is now in the process of launching a brick and mortar, old-world European style bakery in downtown White Sulphur Springs, across from City Hall. We’ll go ahead and mention that this bakery will be hard for you to miss as it’s accented with a bright pink porch.

The Grand Opening is scheduled for Saturday, October 26th. There will be a FREE mini cupcake or cookie to everyone who stops in during this special day. Also, the bakery will be donating 5% of all sales to the “Snack Pack” program which distributes snacks to children to take home for the weekend, who might not otherwise have food for those two days away from school. If you’re having a sweet tooth before the 26th, you can stop in earlier in the week as there will be soft opening starting Tuesday, October 22nd from 7am-5pm and regular operating hours throughout the week. Hours are Tuesday-Friday 7am to 5pm and Saturday 8am to 5pm.

Erin Bowes has created a bakery that specializes in unique desserts and sweets. Her buttercream is an old fashioned, European style frosting made with Plugra butter that melts in the mouth. You’ll notice that there is no sickly sweet aftertaste, just delicious flavor and texture. Also, Bowes does not use any shortening in her ingredients.

Custom cakes may be made for any occasion. Bowes tells us, “From a simple three layer cake to a cake shaped like your car, we can do it!” FYI, these custom cakes do require a minimum 1 week notice.

The daily menu will include warm cinnamon rolls, three different cupcakes, giant cookies, cream horns, donuts, croissants, and granola. There will also be three or four items that are made depending on their mood. They like to think that this keeps it exciting for both the customer and the baker.

Bowes not only takes her baking seriously but her coffee as well. She is a huge coffee drinker and decided long ago that when she has a shop, there WILL be amazing coffee served. The coffee beans are fair trade, organic and blended in house. There is a self serve station that includes a French Roast, a milder Breakfast Blend, and a decaf. There will also be two iced coffee blends, Tahitian Vanilla and Mocha, that will be brewed in house every morning. Worth mention, they will be served over coffee cubes, so as not to water down the drink. In addition to coffee, there will be gourmet teas, and house-made chai and hot cocoa.

This bakery will also have a fun drink menu which will include 3 flavors of Izze sparkling juice, root beer, and real sugar Coke, all served in glass bottles. All drinks will be served with an old fashioned, paper straw.

At some point in the future, Bowes hopes to have cupcake or cookie decorating parties held at the bakery. Send her your thoughts as she is hoping to receive some feedback about this possibility. Is this an option that you would like to see?

This Saturday, October 26th, stop in to see Erin Bowes at B. Sweet Confectionery. Enjoy that complimentary treat and tell her LBSPY sent you!

B Sweet Confectionery is also on facebook and at bsweetconfectionery.com. For questions, call them at: 304-536-3411.
