Ronceverte Halloween Bash, Sat Oct 27

A frightening good time is about to happen in the quiet and sometimes ghoulish Greenbrier County. The town of Ronceverte has put together a Halloween Bash that is sure to add a little delight and spookiness to your fall festivities. A family event, the Bash has something to offer everyone, from the toddler carrying out their first trick or treat, to the loosely coined term “adult” and their wild array of costumes and shivering good cheer.

Through the combined efforts of Main Street Ronceverte, the Ronceverte Lions Club, and assistance from other community organizations, such as the Ronceverte Elementary PTO, the well-received fall festivals of years past have been revamped and renamed. The inaugural Ronceverte Halloween Bash comes to a boil on October 27th, with a parade, pumpkin carving, lamp decorating contest, and much more.
The costume parade will start at 6pm, beginning at Martin and Jones Hardware and ending at the Clifford Community Center. Following the parade, the party will move indoors, featuring inflatables, carnival games, concessions, and other family filled activities. A fortune teller will also be on hand to give friendly insight into days to come.

Beginning on October 21st, a pumpkin decorating contest will begin with all supplies provided, including pumpkins! An entry fee of $7 will be collected for each decorated pumpkin. No outside supplies will be allowed.

Finished pumpkins will be on display throughout the week in the downtown Ronceverte businesses, with the final judging and awards presented October 27th at the Clifford Community Center. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: cutest, scariest, funniest, “halloweeniest”, and best depictions of sports/school and career. A best in show and people’s choice award will also be presented at the event.

A Halloween Lamp Post Decorating contest will be held in downtown Ronceverte, and is open to all ages, families, individuals, groups, clubs, schools, and businesses. After completing an entry form, and a decorating fee of $10 per light post, specific light posts will be assigned to each group. Prizes will be awarded for the top three voted light posts, which will be judged during the Halloween Bash on Saturday. Prizes include $50 for first place, $25 for second place, and $10 for the third place finisher.
