Since Fall 2010, Country Road Yarn House has provided area locals and tourists with a fully-stocked high quality yarn shop. Offering the most friendly and professional service, it was located just outside town in a picturesque farmhouse that offered a unique touch of New England meets West Virginia. Just recently, shop owner, Renee Feamster moved her yarn house to downtown Lewisburg. Her shop’s window view has changed from a long gravel driveway and open fields to the busy side street of town on 107 North Court Street. Located almost directly across the street is The Bakery, where Renee sees people coming and going from open to close as delighted patrons take home some of the best NYC bagels this side of the Mississippi… those special ingredients may even raise your IQ. Renee has good reason for relocating the yarn house into the hustle and bustle of town. She loves the area and has considered the perks of operating her yarn shop with an increase in foot traffic. She tells us “The time, place, and conditions all happened to work out for me this year. Everything fell into place at just the right time.”
The yarn house carries a large variety of yarn in the shop and Plymouth Yarn Company and Cascade Yarn are two of Renee’s favorite companies. Referring to Plymouth and Cascade, Renee says, “They have wonderful yarn anywhere from basic and affordable work-horse yarn to finer yarns for special projects.”
Renee is also particularly fond of some of the small yarn companies that specialize in hand-dying their yarn. Two businesses in particular are Blue Heron and Unplanned Peacock. While these yarns (in particular) cost a little more, Renee believes there’s no substitute for the original colorways. The yarns we have mentioned are only a few of the brands the yarn house carries. Renee is also a pro at keeping her shop stocked with new and exciting yarns. She traveling to several expos, workshops, and other yarn related events throughout the year. She invites you to follow her on facebook to stay updated on yarns in the house and other yarn related activity.
