The big event along the Mountain Music Trail in July is the Augusta Heritage Workshops at Davis & Elkins College in Elkins. Each week features a different style of traditional music, with instructional workshops and concerts. The week of July 9 celebrates Classic Country and Cajun and Creole sounds from the bayous – with concerts Tuesday July 11 and Thursday the 13th. The Classic Country Master Artist is ageless singer Alice Gerrard, who sang for many years with the great Hazel Dickens.
Sunday, July 30 kicks off Bluegrass Week at Augusta, with workshops on just about every string instrument on every skill level. the Master Artist will be Dudley Connell, lead singer of the Seldom Scene and a founding member of the legendary Johnson Mountain Boys. And looking ahead: Mountain Stage comes to Augusta Saturday August 12th. Larry Groce will be joined on stage by Tom Paxton and The Don Juans, Laurie Lewis & The Right Hands, Bill Kirchen, Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer, and The Early Mays.

Pioneer Days in Marlinton has been Pocahontas County’s number one annual celebration for over 50 years, always held the weekend after the 4th of July. The Saturday night street concert this year features the Black Mountain Bluegrass Boys plus young stars William and Marketa Lake in downtown Marlinton – July 8.
Sunday the 16th Bluegrass superstars Dailey and Vincent appear at the American Mountain Theater in Elkins
Thursday the 27th the Hillbilly Gypsies from Morgantown play a free Ivy terrace concert at Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg.
Friday the 28th the neo-old time band the Steel Wheels will be at the Purple Fiddle in Thomas.
