This dreary, soggy winter is sloshing toward its end, and we all hope for an early spring. Haven’t heard any peepers yet, but their chorus can’t be far off. And March will bring some great human music to the Mountain Music Trail.

The premier event of the month is a West Virginia Music Hall of Fame concert honoring Fayette County native and legendary Nashville session man Charlie McCoy (pictured above w/ Bob Dylan) at Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg Friday, March 29. An all-star lineup of great Mountain State musicians will join Charlie on stage to honor this outstanding West Virginia musician. A rising star who attended Davis and Elkins College for their Appalachian Music program, Canadian Kaia Kater(pictured above), will be at Carnegie Hall West Virginia in Lewisburg Friday March 8. She is an amazing singer and instrumentalist. Patrick O’Flaherty, The Irish Bard of Lewisburg, plays at Hill and Holler on US 219 in the “coolest small town in America” (that’s you. L-burg!), Saturday 3/ 2 and the weekend of 3/9-10 from 5 to 9 each day, wrapping up with  shows from 2-9 PM on Saturday and Sunday March 16 and 17. An eclectic band grounded in old-time music but wandering all over the universe, featuring engineers from the Green Bank Observatory in Pocahontas County, The Elk River Ramblers, will be playing Sunday, March 10, in the Concerts in the Loft series at UMC Wesleyan Church in Morgantown, WV.
