How’s the music scene on the mountain? It’s boosting on Friday nights with bands from around the country. Beats on the Basin is a concert series held every ski season at the Connection Nightclub at Snowshoe Mountain.
On January 9th, grammy-nominated bluegrass expansionists band, known as The Infamous Stringdusters, hits the stage. You’ll find they have a distinctive groove friendly sound with a bluegrass theme. This 5-piece ensemble won Emerging Artist of the Year Award and Song of the Year Award at the International Bluegrass Music Association. They were also nominated for 2011 Entertainer of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association and now has a new album release, “LET IT GO”
Quincy Mumford and the Reason Why will grace the stage on January 16th. What does Quincy sound like? Producer Ken Coomer says, “Quincy Mumford is a true artist that can bring raw 70′s style rock and funk highlighted with the voice of an old soul, it’s a perfect blend.”
Rock/reggae band Passafire’s latest album, Vines, is out now and they are coming to Snowshoe on January 23rd. Their record label says they bring “a harder rock edge while still grounding their music in a progressive reggae base. They fit the mold of all of our artists: dedicated, hard working, touring their butts off, and never settling for what people expect of them.” – Lem Oppenheimer, co-founder of Easy Star Records.
Hailing from Columbia, South Carolina, reggae-rock group, The Movement, performs January 30th. A trio of Sublime and Pixies fans formed this group in 2004. Featured in the photo above, they have toured nationally with SOJA, 311, Rebelution, The Green, Slightly Stoopid, G. Love & Special Sauce, The Original Wailers, Wu-Tang Clan and performed at many U.S. festivals.
