Lest we forget, this month marks the one-year anniversary of the terrible flood of 2016. Mother Nature’s bad side reappeared last Summer and released torrential downpours of a biblical nature. . . and once again, West Virginians proved that they stand together in the face of adversity. No matter what Mother Nature throws at us, we face it, and help one another to make it through. . . and in the aftermath, we stay strong, stand side by side and clear the debris to rebuild our homes, businesses, cities and towns.

Mother Nature’s bad side reappeared last Summer and released torrential downpours of a biblical nature. . . and once again, West Virginians proved that they stand together in the face of adversity.

West Virginians are very resilient. Hashtag Lewisburg would like to remember all the friends and loved ones that perished in the disaster and honor all of the people that came together, helped each other and saved countless lives. Citizens, fire and rescue workers, law enforcement, the National Guard, the Coast Guard, the American Red Cross, United Way of Greenbrier Valley all of the local businesses that donated and any other people that got us through the disaster. Maybe a West Virginia state holiday is in order. A Thanksgiving Summer Supper featuring fine cuisine indigenous to West Virginia. Just a thought. Let us know what you think.

…the most beautiful parts of Mother Nature can be found in Almost Heaven, West Virginia.

We, here at Hashtag Lewisburg would like everyone to know that our hearts go out to all of the fine people that lost loved ones or were victimized in the flood in any way. We would also like to express our pride and appreciation for the people of West Virginia that joined together and make up our great state. This year, we can only hope that Mother Nature is kind to us. Her good side is a very beautiful thing. In fact, the most beautiful parts of Mother Nature can be found in Almost Heaven, West Virginia. I enjoy them everyday. I am happy to be a West Virginian and proud to say that we have a lot of fine people representing our state. West Virginia Proud. West Virginia Strong.
