BAILEY’S PACE: COOL BEANS & TUNES AT THE DAILY GRIND! BY BAILEY PACE

Cool Beans & Tunes at the Daily Grind! by Bailey Pace

Located at 113 Main Street, Buckhannon, WV, The Daily Grind, a street side brewery, offers more than just the average cup of joe. Serving soups, salads, sandwiches, fruit sodas, and of course a killer caramel cappuccino is not where this small establishment stops. To celebrate their seventh month in business, owners Andy and Teresa Wilcox are excited to announce that they will be regularly hosting live music. “We’ve welcomed musicians for several months now but will open our doors to them regularly. Most performances will be scheduled evenings and late afternoons, but I’d be happy if we had live music here all the time.”

“I go to Buckhannon just about every year for the Strawberry Festival and the Daily Grind is at the top of my To-do list. Love the atmosphere, the decor, the staff, and of course the food!” – Kristina Kreeger, 2014. via facebook.

Interested musicians are invited to contact the shop’s talent manager Justin Massie at 304-731-0563 or at massiephoto@gmail.com for scheduling information. Artists are encouraged to explore their creativity and flourish in a welcoming environment. Wilcox said many artists appreciate being able to play in a family-oriented venue that does not serve alcohol. “That’s a plus for younger musicians who need an audience but wouldn’t be able to play in bars,” says Teresa Wilcox.

She elaborates on performers who have already contacted the small shop. “I was surprised to discover how many artists were here.” Though Wilcox said she had conceived of establishing the restaurant as a coffee shop that serves downtown business folk, she’s found promise in engaging the younger and artistic coffee-house audience in the evenings and late afternoons. “It wasn’t long before we began to see our audience diversify and then meld into a continuum,” she said. “In many ways, it’s what we might expect of growth in the historic district as West Virginia University opens its campus here next fall — a blend of business customers as well as an artistic student clientele.”

Andy and Teresa welcome you to come in for a drink and stay for the music. Their hours of business are Monday – Friday from 6:30am-6pm and 8am-4pm on Saturdays. The friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere will make you excited to return to The Daily Grind. For more info, connect with them on facebook!
