Adopt Me: Meet Sandy & Gordo

You can’t buy love, but you can adopt it. Here is a dog and cat for adoption with their bios included. Sandy (dog) is in the care of Monroe County Animal League; Gordo (cat) is in the care of the Greenbrier Humane Society. Each month our publication plans to advocate for two animals (dog and/or cats) in the Greenbrier County and surrounding area. Thank you everyone for your support of Hashtag Lewisburg so that we can make this column, “Adopt Me” possible.

Sandy was on her own as a stray when she came into the care of the Monroe County Animal League. She still gets very excited about food, since she probably went without for some time. She is a boxer mastiff mix with a docked tail, weighs more than 70 lbs and is approximately 2 years old. Sandy is very friendly, alert and energetic, loving to run and play. She rides well in a car and is ok on a leash. Sandy would be best in a home as the only dog as she can be picky about her canine friends, and due to her size and energy, children in the home should be older. If you are interested in Sandy and can give her the love she deserves, please call the hotline 304-772-4445, leave a message, and a volunteer will return your call.

Gordo was found on July 23, ’17, in an isolated area on Big Draft Road near its junction with Anthony Road in White Sulphur Springs. A good Samaritan found poor Gordo, and realizing that he was lost and had injuries she took him to a local veterinarian for medical care. Upon examination, it was determined that Gordo had been hit by a car and was treated for a fractured back leg as well as infected wounds. While his rescuers were able to provide a temporary safe, loving environment during his initial treatment, they were unable to keep him permanently. Gordo is now at Greenbrier Humane Society (GHS) receiving ongoing care for his injuries, and is currently available for adoption. Gordo is a gentle giant, and will require a quiet, loving home so he can heal comfortably. He will need to have a living space in which he will not be required to climb stairs, and will need his food/water/litter box to be easily accessible as he is unable to travel far distances. Please note that Gordo was found as a stray. If you or a loved one are missing a senior aged male orange tabby from the Big Draft/Anthony area please contact GHS. They would love to reunite Gordo with his rightful owner if possible. Greenbrier Humane Society is located at 151 Holliday Lane in Lewisburg, WV. For more information about Gordo, call the main line at 304-645-4774 or email greenbrierhumanesociety@frontier.com.
