A WOMAN, A STORY, & A LIFE IN-BETWEEN: GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN BY TIFFANY BLAIR

Tiffany

Well, I’m officially a Lady of Leisure. Thanks to the government shutdown, I’m furloughed and stuck at home until further notice. My plan had initially been to eat Ramen and read quietly for the duration – using as little of my energy and utilities as possible in order to save money. Unfortunately, though, it’s only Day 2 and I may be on the verge of a mental meltdown. A collapse. A crackup, even. At one point today, I actually apologized to my cat for getting in her way on the stairs. I could see her judging me and wondering why I was on the stairs instead of at work. You see what I mean? I have to find a diversion and get myself out of the house soon. Having said that, I know the Taste of Our Town’s festival is coming up, and I simply can’t miss it. I think I’ve had to skip it just once in sixteen years, and I don’t plan on letting that happen again. Kebabs, peaches and cream, brownies – these are what I need to distract and fortify me during my time of need! Eating my emotions never fails me, and T.O.O.T. is the place where my emotions can be sautéed, slapped on a little slider bun, and drowned in barbeque sauce. I feel better already.
