May 3-5: Concours d’Elegance at The Greenbrier

From Friday, May 3 until Sunday the 5th, Concours d’Elegance returns for its second year at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs. Organizers are working to make sure this year’s Councours weekend builds and improves on its strong foundation with a bigger and better event. This year, they will honor Rolls-Royce and Bentley with a featured class, as Bentley celebrates its 100th anniversary. Make your plans now to be part of the Concours that is anticipated to be the talk of the automotive community for years to come.

Tom Cox, a member of The Greenbrier Concours d’Elegance Steering Committee, says, “We are extremely proud of what we accomplished in our first year, but we’re even more excited about the future, beginning with this year’s event. The cars we are lining up are incredible and the schedule of events is packed with options for every type of car enthusiast.”

The action begins Friday morning at 7:30a with the Kate’s Mountain Driving Tour and Breakfast. Then at 12p is the Summit Driving Tour and Lunch, giving automobile owners the opportunity to dine from The Greenbrier’s world-renowned chefs and then hit the back roads to test the power and precision of their vehicles while enjoying the breathtaking scenery, with GPS services provided by K2 Motorsports. The day concludes with a Welcome Reception at Kate’s Mountain Lodge, setting the stage for the International Car Show on Saturday.

Car enthusiast and local business owner, John Hirt, says “The Greenbrier Concours and International Car Show events offer a unique experience for the automobile enthusiast. We’ve been able to combine one of the premier Resort properties in the US with some of the finest mountain driving roads, beautiful unspoiled vistas and welcoming locals. For the serious drivers and Sunday cruisers, we’ve got it all. We’re not just a show, we’re an experience. So, bring your favorite driving shoes and gloves and let’s go for a ride!”

Starting at 10a on Saturday, the International Car Show will be made up of marquees from around the world, featuring cars and vintage motorcycles on display at The Greenbrier’s iconic golf courses. This event will be followed by an Automotive Seminar at 3:30pm and then a Charitable Dinner from 6-9pm. In the evening, the Kentucky Derby will be displayed on giant televisions giving you the opportunity to cheer on your favorite horse, while sipping mint juleps and dining on world-class culinary creations. Net proceeds from the dinner will benefit the AACA Library and Research Center, as well as the Mountaineer Autism Project.

Sunday is the main event, with the world’s finest collector cars taking center stage in the iconic front circle and inside The Greenbrier for the concours that will include 11 judged categories — Veteran Era Cars, Classic Cars, Pre-War Production Cars, Post-War Production Cars, Foreign Sports Cars, Exotic Sports Cars, American Sports Cars, Preservation Cars, Race Cars, Muscle Cars and a featured Rolls-Royce/Bentley class.
