Fri. Sept 11: Blackwater Mojo @ The Asylum!

blackwater mojo

Bare bones blues-rock duo from the heart of the Appalachian hill country, Blackwater Mojo is coming to the Asylum on Friday, September 11th. They are well known for their high energy performances, driving rhythms, and distinct sonic, this duo has no trouble filling the room in a way one would expect from a band twice their size.

Featuring a powerful and dynamic lead vocalist (Erin Young) and a slide guitarist turned one man rhythm section (Seth Young), the duo seamlessly interweaves the raw emotion of the delta blues with the warmth and richness of an old time string band. Not to be confused with preservationists, their unapologetic approach to American roots music makes them sound at once vintage and modern.

Seth and Erin Young have been creating music together for over ten years. The couple met in 2003 while working as house musicians for a popular theater in Cincinnati Ohio. Three years later they wed and while traveling on their honeymoon to Rapa Nui (Easter Island) they were invited by local island musicians to lead a blues jam. There, in the shadow of the monolithic Moai, with the sounds of traditional Polynesian rhythms and American blues harmonies swirling into the night and over the Pacific Ocean, Blackwater Mojo was born.
