July 17 & 18: Green Bank Herb Fair!

Learn, relax, and get inspired at the 3rd Annual Green Bank Herb Fair, set for Friday July 17th and Saturday the 18th. This event will be held on the scenic and spacious ground of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Green Bank, WV. On both days, you will actively explore techniques to preserve and use herbs and how herbs enhance our lives. There will be 16 insightful speakers, a flock of butterflies, a local herb market, wild herb walks, herb gardens, a local foods lunch on Saturday, and more.

On Friday the 17th, check out one of four (3 hour) classes held from 1-4pm. Each course invites you to interact with a professional herbalist and fellow enthusiasts. You will deeply explore conditions, foods, herbs, and herbal systems to increase your knowledge and enjoyment of the world of healthy foods and herbs. Classes are: “The Art of Fermentation” by Suzanna Stone; “Stress Less with Herbal Allies” by Heather Wetzel; “Our Mouths – Windows to our Health” by Leslie M. Alexander; and “Doctrine of Signatures” by Ashley Litecky Elenbaas. A Community Lecture will be held at 7pm to discuss “Natural Strategies for Brain Health” by MiMi Hernandez.

Green Bank Herb Fair 2015

On Saturday morning, you’ll be invited to identify with the outdoor bounty and how they each enhance our lives with a Spirited Nature Walk, held at 8:15am. Following the walk and held throughout the day, take a class or 2 or even 4! Topics include: “Caring for our Mouths with Herbs,” “Eating for Good Health on a Budget,” “Filling Your Medicine Bag- Herbs for First Aid,” “Planting the Super-Foods in your Yard,” “Herbs make the Flavors Sing,” “Myth and Medicine,” The Garden Herbalist,” “Elderberry – A Garden of Health,” “Saving Face in an Age of Wrinkles,” “Life is Sweet with Bitters,” “Aromatherapy and Essential Oils,” and “Consider our Pets”. Classes are 90 minutes each and held at 9:30am, 11am, 12:30pm, and 2pm. There will be break from 12:30-1:30pm for a Local Foods Lunch.
