Get Home-Made at Old Spruce Cafe & Tavern, Snowshoe Mtn

Since 2009, Old Spruce Café, a privately-run Snowshoe landmark continues to please resort guests with their local feel, made-from-scratch meals, and largest beer selection on the mountain. You will also find a menu with 25% vegetarian options (the highest vegetarian choices at Snowshoe), and be greeted with warm hospitality in a stylish environment.

A signature sandwich (pictured) is the JP Organic Veggie Burger with tomato, swiss, mixed greens and cranberry served on whole wheat bread. A popular starter (pictured) is the Buffalo Chicken Dip. This is served with crostini and celery sticks. Worth mention is Old Spruce’s quiche of the day and vegetarian soup options. If you don’t have time to dine in, there’s always freshly made “Grab & Go” sandwiches. Starting at 8am, the Grab & Go Breakfast is available every Monday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The beer selection is large including domestic and craft beers. Craft Beers are: Breckenridge Brewery’s Lucky U IPA, 471 Double Hopped IPA, Avalanche Amber Ale, and Vanilla Porter. You’ll also find beers from: Bieres De Chimay S.A., Southern Tier Brewing Company, Tap Room No. 21 Brewing Company, Pyramid Brewing Company, Magic Hat, Woodchuck, and many more.

Killer beer selection (with poetic descriptions of each craft brew), friendly staff, creative spins on old sandwich favorites, and if I had gotten a chance to go back more often I would have even more to list on here I’m sure…Best thing: prices are not the hiked up resort prices! – Megan F. Louisville, KY.

Accented with warm lighting and attractive décor, the restaurant is vibrant and warm with red walls and a bar that runs straight through. You’ll find this place to be intimate and fun during your stay at the mountain.

Restaurant owner, Lawrence Walkup has 19 years restaurant experience. He was the Director of Food and Beverage of both Massanutten and Snowshoe Resort. Inspired to break the corporate structure, Lawrence opened Old Spruce Café & Tavern. His mission is to provide guests with a homey and hospitable environment serving only the best home-made food, quality coffee open to close, and wide selection of beers.

Old Spruce is the perfect place for a quick bite to eat, quiet dinner for 2, or to socialize and unwind after a long day on the mountain. If you haven’t been to Old Spruce Café yet, this may give you more incentive to come out for LBSPY’s “MIND YOUR BUSINESS” Party on February 24th at Del Sol Cantina & Grille in downtown Lewisburg. Among many other give-aways, we’ll be giving away a $20 Gift Certificate to Old Spruce Café. Hope to see you there. More info at lbspy.com
