Lookin Good on V-Day Sugar Britches by Tiffany Blair

A Woman, a Story, & a Life in-Between – Lookin Good on V-Day Sugar Britches

“Hey, cutie…you come here often?” “Lookin’ good, sugar britches!” These are the things I say to myself as I walk past mirrors on Valentine’s Day. I decided a few years ago that I’d be my own Valentine first and foremost, regardless of whether I have a main squeeze to celebrate with when V-Day rolls around. I treat myself to romantic dinners for one and candle-lit bubble baths and relax because – darn it – I deserve it! This isn’t to say I don’t want to celebrate with my “boo” when I have one, but when you see me winking at my own reflection, don’t ask me if I have something in my eye. I’m just letting myself know that I am one awesome honey bunny, if I do say so myself. After all, if I’m not going to do it, why should anyone else? I keep myself at the top of my list when it comes to doling out the candy hearts so that even if the only Valentine I receive is a single long-stemmed red rose from the cashier at a Chinese restaurant (yep, that actually happened), I can rest assured I’ve had a happy Valentine’s Day when it’s all said and done. So, Happy Valentine’s Day, hot stuff, and I’ll see you the same time next year!
